Wanju Fire Station Wins 1st Place at Jeonbuk Fire Investigation Competition
Jeonbuk Fire Department Awards Outstanding Stations at Competition Ceremony
Wanju Fire Station took first place in the 2023 Jeonbuk Fire Investigation Competition hosted by the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters and will represent Jeonbuk at the National Firefighting Skills Competition.
According to Jeonbuk Fire on the 28th, the Fire Investigation Competition has been held annually since 2020 to improve the investigative skills of fire investigators.
The competition is conducted by utilizing a building scheduled for demolition to create an environment similar to a real fire scene. After setting a fire caused by a specific reason and extinguishing it just before it reaches its peak, fire investigators deduce the exact cause of the fire through on-site investigation.
The accuracy of property damage assessment and fire investigation theory are also evaluated, and excellent institutions are selected based on the overall score. Fire stations placing first to third receive awards from the governor.
This year’s competition was held on the 22nd at a vacant house in Baekgu-myeon, Gimje City, where teams of two fire investigators selected from 13 fire stations across the province competed.
Following Wanju Fire Station’s first place, Sunchang Fire Station took second place, and Iksan Fire Station and Jinan Fire Station tied for third.
The first-place team from Wanju Fire Station will represent Jeonbuk in the fire investigation category at the 36th National Firefighting Skills Competition held in June. If they achieve excellent results, various benefits such as a one-rank promotion will be awarded.
