Hanjin Launches Overseas Direct Purchase Platform 'Hut Town'
The Industry's First Global C2C Platform
Hanjin launched the industry's first global consumer-to-consumer (C2C) cross-border direct purchase platform, ‘HOOT TOWN’, on March 28.
As part of strengthening its global e-commerce capabilities, HOOT TOWN applies the Micro Cross Border Trade method, integrating peer-to-peer product transactions and information exchange functions into the company’s overseas shipping agency service, ‘ihanex’.
The main features of this platform include ‘Buy for Me’, where users can request personal purchasing services, ‘Sell It’, where users can list products for sale, and ‘Meet Up’, a real-time community feature within HOOT TOWN.
‘Buy for Me’ allows users registered on HOOT TOWN (hereinafter referred to as ‘Towners’) to post purchase requests for products unavailable domestically. Another Towner located overseas then submits a sales quote for the requested product, and the requesting Towner completes the overseas direct purchase order by making the payment.
Users can also directly list products they want to sell through ‘Sell It’. A unique URL is automatically generated for each listed product, which can be shared on the Towner’s personal social media.
‘Meet Up’ adds a real-time community function within a dedicated community space in HOOT TOWN, where Towners with similar tastes can share various information about their preferred categories.
HOOT TOWN also ensures various conveniences centered on Towners. For purchase requests, Towners can engage in real-time conversations through a chat window equipped with Korean-English translation functions. The platform supports Korean and English languages and allows payments in Korean won, US dollars, and Japanese yen. After completing the purchasing agency service or product sales, Towners can check their earnings in their registered personal accounts in their preferred currency once the product has been shipped.
