Daejeon City Provides Subsidies for Installation of Electric Vehicle Slow Chargers
Daejeon City will provide subsidies for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) slow chargers in residential areas, public facilities, and other daily life hubs.
The city announced on the 27th that it will recruit facilities to participate in the ‘Electric Vehicle Slow and Outlet-type Charger Installation Support Project’ from October 27 to November 30.
The project targets multi-unit residential complexes and public facilities that are required to install chargers for parking units of 50 or more. It will support 83 slow chargers (7~11 kW) and 285 outlet-type chargers (3 kW), respectively.
Slow chargers and outlet-type chargers have lower installation costs and are easier to install compared to fast charging facilities, making them suitable for use in urban areas.
The city plans to spend 100 million KRW each on subsidies for installing slow chargers and outlet-type chargers. However, the project may close early if the budget is exhausted.
The application volume is limited to 2% of the number of parking spaces for slow chargers, and up to four times 2% of the total parking spaces for outlet-type chargers. To receive the subsidy, an EV-exclusive parking space must be mandatorily installed when installing the charger.
Support recipients will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Selected facilities can autonomously choose an installation company registered as an electric vehicle charging business operator under Article 7-2 of the Electric Utility Act to complete the charger installation and then claim the subsidy from the city, receiving 90% of the total project cost.
The maximum subsidy is 1.4 million KRW for slow chargers and 350,000 KRW for outlet-type chargers. However, the city advises carefully checking related details as the maximum subsidy for slow chargers varies depending on the number installed.

Baek Gye-gyeong, head of the Fine Dust Response Division of the city, said, “With the increasing demand and popularization of electric vehicles, expanding customized charging infrastructure has become essential. Since slow and outlet-type chargers are mainly established in residential areas and other daily life hubs, they will enhance the convenience of electric vehicle use.”
