Daejeon City Supports Job-Seeking Youth Who Have Given Up with 'Social Activities and Independence' Programs
Daejeon City will identify local youth who have stopped job-seeking activities due to difficulties in finding employment and support their social activities and self-reliance.
On the 24th, the city announced that it will recruit youth to participate in the ‘2023 Youth Challenge Support Project’ with this purpose.
The project is a program designed to enhance youth’s social activities and job-seeking motivation, operated in two courses: one-month and five-month programs.
The total recruitment quota is 160 people on a first-come, first-served basis. By program duration, 60 participants will be selected for the one-month program, and 100 for the five-month program. The programs will run from next month 4th to October 27th.
Participants in the one-month program must attend at least 32 hours out of the standard 40 hours, and participants in the five-month program must attend at least 160 hours out of the standard 200 hours to complete the course.
The city will provide an incentive of 500,000 KRW to those who complete the one-month program and up to 3,000,000 KRW to those who complete the five-month program.
Additionally, completers will be offered linkage to the national employment system and comprehensive employment support services, and employers who hire program graduates will receive employment promotion incentives.
Eligible applicants include youth aged 18 to 39 who have not been employed or participated in education or vocational training in the past six months and have given up job-seeking, youth preparing for self-reliance within five years after leaving child welfare facilities, youth aged 18 or older who have been protected in youth shelters for over one year, and North Korean defector youth.
