The eldest son of former Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil, who has a past conviction for methamphetamine use, has been confirmed to have been arrested by the police on suspicion of methamphetamine use.
The Yongin Eastern Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 24th that they have arrested Nam's eldest son, Nam (32), on the spot on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and are currently investigating him.
Nam is suspected of having used methamphetamine once at an apartment in Giheung-gu, Yongin City on the 23rd.
At that time, Nam's family members who were inside the house reported to the police at 10:14 PM, saying "It seems he took drugs" after Nam showed abnormal behavior.
Former Governor Nam was reportedly not present at the time.
The police who arrived at the scene arrested Nam on the spot and found several syringes believed to have been used for methamphetamine injection.
A rapid drug test on the syringes detected methamphetamine components.
Accordingly, the police plan to execute a search warrant to collect Nam's urine and hair samples and send them to the National Forensic Service for drug testing.
