Do You Know 'Gwangwangdure'?… Ulsan's First Resident-Led Tourism Project 'Eutteumdure' Emerges
‘Wanansta Co., Ltd.’ Certificate and 10 Million KRW Prize
Resident-Led Project Selected by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization
Do you know about ‘Gwangwang Dure’? This year, the top domestic tourism business led by local residents was found in Ulsan.
‘Wanasta Co., Ltd.’, a Gwangwang Dure business in Ulsan, was selected as the ‘2023 Eutteum Dure’ for the first time in Ulsan. With this selection, Wanasta Co., Ltd. received a certificate, a prize of 10 million KRW, and various promotional benefits as a bonus.
Located in Eonyang-eup, Ulju-gun, Wanasta Co., Ltd. operates specialized healing experience products utilizing forests and nature, such as forest yoga, meditation experiences, and a 7-day rural living experience.
The Gwangwang Dure project is a community-led tourism revitalization initiative organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization since 2013. It is a project that helps residents form their own businesses and discover unique tourism resources (travel, experiences, souvenirs, food, etc.) to start and manage enterprises.
Among the Gwangwang Dure businesses, excellent companies are selected as ‘Eutteum Dure’ and receive various supports. As of 2023, 322 Gwangwang Dure resident businesses are operating nationwide, with 10 designated as Eutteum Dure.
In Ulsan, Ulju-gun first participated in the Gwangwang Dure project in 2021 and currently operates 6 businesses, while Nam-gu joined in 2022 with 4 businesses, totaling 10 Gwangwang Dure resident businesses.
Ulsan City is preparing a Gwangwang Dure regional cooperation project starting in April to discover Gwangwang Dure resident businesses in Jung-gu, Buk-gu, and Dong-gu areas, which have not yet participated in the operation.
