[Yang Nak-gyu's Defence photo] ROK-US-UK Marines 'Breathing in Sync'
The marine forces of South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom simultaneously infiltrated by air and sea at a training ground in Buk-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk Province, conducting reconnaissance of targets and directing fire to strike them. In this exercise, South Korea participated with the Special Reconnaissance Unit under the Marine Corps Headquarters and the Reconnaissance Battalion of the 1st Division, while reconnaissance units from the U.S. Marine Corps and commandos from the British Royal Marines also coordinated their efforts.
Participating for the first time in the exercise, the British Commando unit is a Royal Marines unit specializing in special operations such as reconnaissance, infiltration, target acquisition, and fire direction.
Established in 1664, it has demonstrated valor in World War I and II as well as the Korean War. On the second day of training, joint operational capabilities will be enhanced according to Korean terrain, and mobile firing exercises will be conducted.
