Jeongeup-si Provides 'Environmental Conservation Fund' to Eco-Friendly Certified Farms

Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk supports environmental conservation costs for farms certified for eco-friendly agricultural products.

According to the city on the 22nd, the organic and pesticide-free eco-friendly agricultural products environmental conservation cost support project aims to support part of the income loss caused by practicing eco-friendly agriculture, promote the management stability of eco-friendly farmers, and enhance public values such as environmental conservation and biodiversity preservation.

Applicants are local farmers, foresters, and corporations who have received certification for eco-friendly agricultural products and registered their agricultural management information.

The target farmland is the land that has faithfully implemented eco-friendly agriculture during the project period (November 2022 to October 2023) and has been notified as eligible based on the implementation inspection results.

The support rate is 50% of the eco-friendly agriculture direct payment support rate. For organic certification, it is 350,000 KRW per hectare for rice, 700,000 KRW for fruit trees, and 650,000 KRW for other crops.

For pesticide-free certified farms, support is differentiated by certification and item: 250,000 KRW for rice, 600,000 KRW for fruit trees, and 550,000 KRW for other crops.

The city plans to pay the project funds by December after conducting implementation inspections on the certification status and types of eco-friendly agriculture for the applied farmland.

Eligible farms should submit the eco-friendly agricultural product certification, management registration confirmation, and application form to the local town, township office, or community service center where the farmland is located.

A city official said, “We hope this helps stabilize the management of eco-friendly farmers who are striving to supply safe eco-friendly food to citizens despite difficult agricultural conditions,” and added, “Please apply within the deadline to prevent any unpaid farms.”
