Gwangju Nam-gu, Hyochon Station→Dorasan Station 'Unification Train'... All Seats Sold Out
All seats on the unification train departing from Hyochon Station in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City this April have been sold out.
Nam-gu announced on the 22nd that it has successfully completed the recruitment of participants for the first unification train operation of the first half of the year amid strong interest from many residents.
The first unification train departing from Hyochon Station on April 13 will carry 180 passengers selected through an open recruitment and head to Dorasan Station, the northernmost station.
Passengers were recruited through on-site registration held from March 13 to 15 and online registration conducted on the 20th.
Nam-gu explained that both on-site and online registrations were filled with residents hoping to board from the very beginning.
On-site registration for seniors aged 65 and over exceeded the recruitment quota of 80, attracting 111 applicants, and the lottery process for selecting passengers was broadcasted on YouTube.
Applications are also continuing for the recruitment of passengers for the second unification train departing on June 1.
The recruitment quota for the second unification train, which is currently accepting online applications, is 180, and 70 people have been confirmed on the boarding list.

A Nam-gu official said, "This year, we will operate the unification train four times in total, and to promote the unification train project, we are accelerating efforts by deploying a Saemaeul-ho special class education-themed train for live education on peace, unification, and division experience on the Korean Peninsula."
