View original imageSeongnam City in Gyeonggi Province unveiled the emblem created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its city status on the 22nd.
The emblem depicts the number '50' as a harmonious combination of blue and red semicircles. It symbolizes the 50 years of change brought about by the gathering and unity of its citizens.
The two colors used in the emblem represent Seongnam City's advanced technology leading South Korea's 4th Industrial Revolution (blue) and the youthfulness and vitality of its citizens (red).
The harmony of contrasting colors conveys a message of citizen convergence and integration.
Earlier, on the 3rd of last month, Seongnam City also incorporated the slogan selected for the 50th anniversary of city status, "The Future We Want, Seongnam Creates," into the emblem.
The emblem has been produced in various adaptable forms and will be used in the 50th anniversary commemorative projects and various promotional materials throughout the year.
The city plans to focus its commemorative events around Citizens' Day (October 8), primarily during September and October.

A city official stated, "During this period, we plan to create a festival space shared with citizens by holding various events related to the 50th anniversary of city status, including special programs, planned exhibitions, booth operations, children's writing and drawing contests, citizen sports competitions, and the KBS Open Concert."
