60s Captain Falls Near Geoga Bridge, Changwon Coast Guard Intensifies Search Efforts
At 12:58 PM on the 21st, a male captain in his 60s fell into the sea near Geoga Bridge in Jangmok-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongnam, and the Coast Guard is currently searching for him.
According to the Changwon Maritime Police Station, the 4-ton vessel captained by Mr. A departed at 6:26 AM and was engaged in diving operations near Geoga Bridge at around 12:58 PM.
A crew member who was on board witnessed the fall accident and reported it to the Masan Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), which then notified the Coast Guard.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Changwon Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels, rescue teams, and coastal rescue boats to the scene.
They are searching for Mr. A with the cooperation of three naval vessels, fire department units, and three civilian rescue boats.
The depth at the accident site is approximately 18 meters, with a southwest wind blowing at 6 to 8 meters per second and waves reaching 0.5 meters.
