Prosecutors Request Warrants for Assemblyman Ha Young-je on Charges of Bribery Related to Nomination Fees
The Criminal Division 4 of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office in Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it has requested an arrest warrant for Ha Young-je, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party representing Sacheon, Namhae, and Hadong, on charges of violating the Political Funds Act and the Act on the Prohibition of Improper Solicitation and Graft.
Ha is accused of receiving 70 million won from a preliminary candidate for the Gyeongnam Provincial Council election as a bribe in exchange for helping the candidate secure a nomination ahead of the June 1 local elections last year, and also receiving 57.5 million won from local government heads and aides under the pretext of covering regional office operating expenses.
