Joint Public-Private Large-Scale Wildfire Prevention Campaign Launched
Recently, as dry weather continues nationwide, the national crisis alert for wildfire disasters has been raised to the 'Warning' level, and Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has vowed to ensure that no wildfires occur this year.

View original imageOn the 18th, the campaign was held for about two hours starting at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Eom Hong-gil Exhibition Hall in Georyu-myeon (entrance to Georyusan hiking trail). About 70 people participated, including staff from Goseong-gun Green Parks Division, Safety Management Division, Georyu-myeon, Goseong Fire Station, specialized wildfire prevention and suppression teams, and volunteer firefighters.
Participants distributed promotional materials and leaflets to hikers, encouraging active participation in wildfire prevention.
In particular, it was announced that if illegal burning is detected within 100 meters of the forest (forest-adjacent area), violators will be fined 300,000 KRW according to Article 57 of the Forest Protection Act, and if a wildfire spreads due to negligence, offenders may face up to three years in prison and a fine of up to 30 million KRW.
