How to Use Employment and Labor Public Data? We Are Waiting for Your Ideas
Joint Contest by Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled
An innovative idea contest utilizing public data in the field of employment and labor is being held.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Chairman An Jong-ju) and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled (Chairman Jo Hyang-hyun) are jointly conducting the 2nd Employment and Labor Public Data Utilization Contest.
Now in its second year, the contest was established to ▲expand the use of data in employment, labor, occupational safety and health, and disabled employment fields ▲discover creative ideas ▲discover and nurture startup companies, and to revitalize the data economy.
Until last year, only the ‘Idea Planning’ category was held, but this year the contest has expanded to include ‘Product and Service Development’ that actually utilizes public data.
Anyone from the public, including university students, prospective entrepreneurs, companies, and academia, can participate individually or in teams of up to four people by applying on the contest’s official website from the 20th to July 21.
The winning entries will be selected through the first document screening (July 26?28) and the second presentation screening (August 17), with six entries chosen per category for a total of 12. Gift certificates worth a total of 16.5 million KRW are at stake.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and its affiliated organizations will promote the 12 final selected works online and offline, and support the public data necessary for realizing the proposed ideas and developing product services. An Jong-ju, Chairman of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, said, “The agency is opening 258 public data sets for industrial accident prevention,” and added, “We hope for active participation to discover ideas, products, and service commercialization models that help create safe and healthy workplaces.”

Jo Hyang-hyun, Chairman of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, said, “As a specialized institution for disabled employment, we are opening 47 public data sets related to disabled employment,” and added, “We ask for interest so that this contest can help disabled people become independent through their professional lives and assist employers in employing disabled persons.”
