Screen League Created by Woods and McIlroy Expands Influence Against Oil Money
Fowler Joins TGL Launching in January Next Year
12 Participants Confirmed Including Major Tournament Champions
A screen golf league created primarily by Tiger Woods (USA) and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) is gaining momentum. The league is taking shape as top-tier players from the PGA Tour, including major championship winners, are joining one after another.

Golf media outlets such as Golf Channel in the United States reported on the 16th that Ricky Fowler (USA), a star player on the PGA Tour, has decided to join the screen golf league 'TGL,' which will launch in January next year.
Fowler said, "The more I learn about TGL, the more I want to participate," adding, "I like the idea of inviting fans to watch golf tournaments in a 'prime time' environment similar to other sports."
TGL is a new golf league created by the venture company 'TMRW Sports,' jointly established by Woods and McIlroy in August last year. Six teams, each consisting of three PGA Tour players, compete in screen golf. The format is a two-hour match on an 18-hole virtual course. Starting next year, 15 tournaments will be held every Monday. The industry expects it to become a new revenue-generating golf league by sharing large prize money and incorporating advanced IT technology.
With Fowler joining, the number of players competing in TGL has increased to 12, including Woods and McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Billy Horschel (all USA), Jon Rahm (Spain), Adam Scott (Australia), Justin Rose, and Matt Fitzpatrick (both England). The remaining six players to complete the league will be announced later.
Woods and McIlroy are leading efforts to protect the PGA Tour against the movement of players transferring to LIV Golf, sponsored by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund (PIF), known as 'oil money.' TGL could serve as a financial compensation channel for players who remain on the PGA Tour.
