Gokseong-gun Future Education Foundation Supports Safe Return Home for High School Students
Support for Nighttime Return Vehicle Operation to Guarantee Learning Rights
The Gokseong-gun Future Education Foundation in Jeollanam-do is starting the "High School Students' Nighttime Self-Study Return Home Support Project" again this March with the beginning of the new semester.
The "High School Nighttime Self-Study Return Home Support Project" is a program that provides transportation support for local youth who live more than 2 km away from their school to return home safely after nighttime self-study sessions.
The project was initiated to ensure students' safe return home and to alleviate the economic burden on parents.
Eligible students for nighttime return support are selected through applications submitted at schools before the start of each semester in March and August.
Last year, a total of 937 youths received return home support services, including 397 students from Gokseong High School and 540 from Okgwa High School. This year, 25 students have applied, with 6 from Gokseong High School and 19 from Okgwa High School.
A total of five vehicles (2 for Gokseong, 3 for Okgwa) operate to provide the transportation support. The Gokseong area service is managed by the Gokseong-gun Youth Culture House, and the Okgwa area service is managed by the Okgwa Youth Culture House.
The schools, culture houses, and the foundation plan to assist in various ways to ensure safe transportation, from guiding students' boarding safety to checking their safe arrival after disembarking.
A parent of student A, who is receiving nighttime return support, said, "It seems to be the most practical service for high school students and parents living in Gokseong."
A representative of the Gokseong-gun Future Education Foundation stated, "We will continue to provide support so that high school students in the area do not miss nighttime self-study sessions due to transportation issues."
