Jindo-gun Donates 14.4 Million Won in Scholarships to Residents
Delivering Dreams and Hope to Local Talents
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that on the 15th, residents donated a total of 14.4 million KRW in scholarships to foster local talent.
At the county office situation room, Seungwon Construction Group (Chairman Kim Seung-gu) donated 10 million KRW, Jindo-gun Fishing Association (Chairman Oh Gwi-seok) 1.4 million KRW, Korean Gugak Association Jindo Branch (Branch Chief Lee Hee-chun) 1 million KRW, Sea World Express Ferry Co., Ltd. 1 million KRW, and Jungman Village Association in Imhoe-myeon (Village Chief Kwak Jae-gu) 1 million KRW.

Governor Kim Hee-su expressed, “I deeply respect and thank everyone who donated scholarships for students despite the difficult circumstances,” adding, “The precious scholarships collected together will become dreams and hopes for local talents who will lead future education.”
The residents who donated scholarships said in unison, “We find it meaningful to help nurture talents who will brighten the future of the region through small sharing,” and “We will continue to donate scholarships so that Jindo’s students can study hard in better educational environments.”
Since its establishment in 2008, the Jindo-gun Talent Development Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Kim Hee-su) has currently raised 22.2 billion KRW in scholarship funds.
The raised scholarship funds have been used for fostering local talents and educational development by distributing a total of 9.4 billion KRW, including △ 3.9 billion KRW for educational expenses △ 3.3 billion KRW for scholarships △ 1.5 billion KRW for prestigious high school development △ 600 million KRW for school facilities.
