SK Signet Participates in EV Trend Korea... Unveils 400kW Ultra-Fast Charger
Full Lineup of EV Chargers Including the Fast Charger V2 Highlighted at CES 2023
SK Signet, the No.1 player in the U.S. electric vehicle ultra-fast charging market, will participate in Korea's largest electric vehicle industry expo, EV Trend Korea 2023.
From the 15th to the 17th, SK Signet will showcase all its charger models, from slow chargers to ultra-fast chargers including the new V2 product, at 'EV Trend Korea 2023' held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The V2 product, which received great attention at CES 2023 in January this year, can output up to 400 kW from a single port, enabling a full charge from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes. The power module equipped in the V2 product improves power efficiency compared to previous models and reduces volume by 39%, enhancing charger operational efficiency. The exhibition will feature not only chargers but also next-generation prototypes of power modules, the core components of ultra-fast chargers.
Various domestic flagship products will be displayed, including the integrated 100 kW and 200 kW rapid charger V1 models and dispenser-type products. SK Signet’s V1 products can also be found at the Ministry of Environment’s promotional booth and at the booth of SS Charger, Korea’s largest charging station operator. Additionally, the most sold Electrify America (EA) charger models in the U.S. and chargers from EVgo, the second-largest charging station operator in the U.S., will be exhibited.
SK Signet will also unveil the prototype model of the Megawatt Charging System (MCS), which supplies power in the megawatt range for the first time. The MCS charger can supply three times more power per unit time compared to the 350 kW ultra-fast charger that charges 32 km of driving range per minute, making it suitable for charging heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks and buses equipped with large-capacity batteries. A key feature of the MCS charger is the increased size of the dispenser’s cable and coupler, which are power supply devices designed for large-capacity charging.
The MCS market is expected to reach approximately $4.2 billion (about 5.5 trillion KRW) by 2027, growing at an average annual rate of 29%. While vehicles over 15 tons such as agricultural machinery and heavy equipment are the main market, it is an important sector with potential expansion into ships, industrial vehicles, and urban air mobility. The international electric vehicle charging consortium 'CharIN' announced the MCS charging prototype last year and plans to promote standardization for commercialization within 2024. SK Signet plans to launch the MCS charger in 2024 in line with international standardization.
On-site events for booth visitors will also be held. Visitors who subscribe to SK Signet’s official social media accounts or post about the SK Signet booth on their personal social media will receive a fast charging cable for mobile phones or an electric vehicle charging card as a gift.
