'In-flight Meal Specialty' Air Busan, Which Menu Sold the Most?
The Route with the Highest In-Flight Meal Sales, Bangkok
Air Busan announced on the 13th that among all international routes, the Bangkok route had the highest in-flight meal sales, with ‘Tteokgalbi Kimchi Fried Rice’ being the most sold item.
According to a survey of pre-ordered in-flight meal sales from January to February this year, the Bangkok route accounted for 36% of total sales, recording the highest number of in-flight meal orders.
Air Busan analyzed that the departure time of the Bangkok route at 5 PM overlaps with meal times during the flight, and the high proportion of family travelers contributed to the large volume of in-flight meal sales. The routes with the next highest sales rates were Nha Trang and Taipei, respectively.
Seasonally, the highest sales were recorded in the fourth week of January, which included the Lunar New Year holiday, as the increase in travelers going abroad for the holiday led to higher in-flight meal sales.
By menu, ‘Tteokgalbi Kimchi Fried Rice’ accounted for about 30% of total sales, making it the most popular choice among passengers. A company representative stated that since it is a familiar menu easily enjoyed by people of all ages in daily life, its sales volume is relatively high.
The second most popular menu was ‘Chicken Nugget Omurice’, followed by ‘Ham Cheese Sandwich’ in third place. The new menu ‘Yugasomssi Dakgalbi’, launched in collaboration with a local brand, is also gaining popularity through word of mouth, with sales steadily increasing.
An Air Busan official said, “As overseas travel increases, sales seem to be rising accordingly,” adding, “We will enhance overall in-flight meal quality and further improve passenger satisfaction by understanding passenger preferences and regularly developing and researching new menus.”
Currently, Air Busan sells pre-ordered in-flight meals on 17 of its 20 international routes in operation, excluding short-distance routes such as Fukuoka.
