Mid- to Long-Term Policies to Overcome the Population Crisis
On the 10th at 4 p.m., Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a new project discovery report meeting to respond to population decline in the large conference room of the county office, presided over by County Governor Jin Byeong-yeong, with about 40 participants including all department heads and eup/myeon chiefs.

View original imageThis report meeting was conducted targeting 43 new projects discovered by all departments, including eup and myeon, to actively respond to the continuous population decline and to prepare effective population increase measures.
The new projects discussed that day included in-depth discussions on various projects ranging from measures to overcome low birth rates such as marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, parenting, education, and care, to responses to an aging society, jobs and income, living environment, and infrastructure related to population changes.
The county plans to reflect the projects reported that day in the five-year basic plan for responding to population decline areas and the local extinction response fund investment plan after thorough review and supplementation regarding feasibility and effectiveness.
Governor Jin Byeong-yeong said, “The crisis of local extinction can only be overcome by establishing customized population policies that utilize the characteristics of the region and mid- to long-term policies,” and urged, “All 650 public officials should unite and concentrate administrative power to pool wisdom on the pressing population issues.”
After this report meeting, the county plans to continuously discover differentiated and effective projects suitable for local conditions and actively respond to the crisis of population decline and local extinction.
