Park In-bi's 'Weekend Golfer Green Strategy'... "Try It This Way"
The Center of the Green, Not the Pin, Shorter Club Than a Long One
Weekend golfers get excited when their tee shot lands on the fairway. They raise their voices, thinking a birdie opportunity has arrived. They grab an iron and take an ambitious shot, but the ball flies off in the wrong direction. They struggle as they end up in bunkers and roughs around the green. The moment a birdie turns into a bogey.
Park In-bee advised, "For amateur golfers, aim for the center of the green rather than the pin, and use shorter clubs instead of long clubs to target the green."

First, she advises not to aim directly at the pin. Park said, "Even if the pin position looks easy, there are traps," and added, "You should aim for the center of the green rather than the pin to increase the chances of landing on the green." The calculation is that if you safely get on the green and then make two putts, you can make par.
Next is club selection. When there is an awkward distance left with irons, golfers often hesitate about which club to choose. Park strongly recommends using a shorter club. She emphasized, "Don’t use a long club trying to get on the green," and said, "If you drop the ball near the green with a short club and then make an approach shot, your score can improve." Generally, it is not easy to make an approach shot if you end up in the rough behind the green. According to Park’s experience, it is easier to get the ball close to the pin from the front of the green.
