Seongnam City Allocates 7.5 Billion Won for Next Year's Resident Participatory Budget

View original imageSeongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has allocated 7.5 billion KRW for next year's resident participation budget.
On the 10th, Seongnam City announced that it will hold a public contest for 'Resident Participation Budget Proposal Projects' until May 31 to expand citizen participation in the budgeting process and to discover and implement projects closely related to residents' daily lives. The total budget reflected for the proposed projects is 7.5 billion KRW.
The contest areas are divided into ▲ city-level policy projects with a budget of 5 billion KRW ▲ and district-level local projects with a budget of 2.5 billion KRW (50 million KRW per each of the 50 districts). Any Seongnam citizen can participate in the contest.
Applicants can visit the Seongnam City Resident Participation Budget website (Project Proposal) and submit the details of the projects to be reflected in next year's budget.
It is also possible to submit the resident participation budget project proposals directly to the budget departments of the city, district, or neighborhood offices or send them by fax.
The proposed projects will undergo review by the responsible departments, followed by preliminary deliberations by the 50 district local councils and the four subcommittees of the city resident participation budget committee, and finally, the resident participation budget committee will conduct the final deliberation to reflect the projects in next year's budget.

Last year, the city also held a contest for resident participation budget proposal projects and received 580 submissions. Among them, 192 projects were selected, including the installation of flag species signposts on the Seongnam Nubi-gil trail and repainting of old traffic signal poles on general roads. This year, a budget of 7 billion KRW has been allocated, and the projects are currently being implemented.
