Yeosu City Supports 50% of Increased Electricity Charges for Agricultural Use
Last Year's October to December Price Increase, Promoting Farm Management Stability
Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 9th that it will support 50% of the increase in electricity charges used for agricultural purposes such as crop cultivation and production.
The city decided to invest a budget of 95 million KRW to alleviate the increased management burden on farms due to rising electricity rates and to promote management stability by supporting the increased amount of agricultural electricity charges.
The support rate is 50% of the increase in electricity charges for three months from October to December last year, and the support unit price is 9.05 KRW per kWh.
The support targets are farmers residing in Jeollanam-do who use electricity for agricultural seedling cultivation, pre-cultivation, low-temperature storage facilities, pest control lamps, agricultural product drying facilities, and so on.
Applications for the project can be submitted by visiting the Eup, Myeon, or Dong community service centers by the 17th and submitting an application form and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) customer number.
The city plans to verify the submitted supporting documents, electricity consumption, and payment details of applicants through the KEPCO Yeosu branch and pay the support funds by April.
A city official said, “In the situation where the management burden on farms has increased due to rising energy prices, we hope this support will help with household management and preparation for farming.”
