Yeongam-gun, Intensive Management During High-Risk Suicide Period in Spring
From March to May, Attention from Surroundings is Needed
Yeongam-gun Public Health Center in Jeollanam-do has designated the spring season as an intensive management period for suicide prevention due to the increase in suicide rates during this time. They have launched a campaign to promote a culture of respect for life and to focus on managing high-risk groups.
According to the county on the 9th, March to May is considered a high-risk period for suicide due to increased daylight hours and insomnia, requiring special attention from those around.
Accordingly, the county will promote intensive awareness campaigns and actively identify and manage high-risk suicide groups.
The county continues to provide mental care and case management services not only to registered high-risk suicide groups but also to potential high-risk groups. They plan to intensively promote suicide prevention counseling numbers, display related promotional banners, and provide information on support organizations through SNS.
A county official stated, “Recently, the overall economic situation seems difficult and mental stress is increasing,” adding, “During such times, it is crucial for the community to pay close attention and offer help so that residents facing difficulties do not lose their precious lives.”
