The Yeongsanpo Station Cultural Experience Exhibition Hall, with a total floor area of 553.17㎡, was constructed with a plan to build one Yeongsanpo Station reproduction exhibition hall and one children's train experience hall. A total project cost of 2.9 billion KRW was invested, with construction starting in September 2020 and completed in December 2022.
Inside the exhibition hall, displays allow visitors to see at a glance the origin and history of the Yeongsanpo name, stories of Yeongsanpo Station which flourished as a gateway for transportation and logistics in the Honam region, old photographs, and the daily lives of residents.
Small attractions and diverse experiential content that evoke nostalgic feelings, such as the 'ticket office,' 'station staff costume experience,' 'engineer and passenger VR experience,' 'Hongik concession stand in the waiting room,' and 'actual station staff items exhibition,' also draw attention.
The adjacent building, the children's train experience hall, is designed as a play space exclusively for children, featuring 'mini train riding experience,' 'rock climbing play facilities,' and a 'guardian waiting room.'
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said in his commemorative speech, "The old Yeongsanpo Station, a space filled with the lives and sorrows of Yeongsanpo residents and a transportation and logistics hub of Honam, has now been reborn as a complex center equipped with cultural, experiential, and exhibition spaces. We will do our best to make it a stepping stone for Yeongsanpo tourism and commercial revitalization and a new landmark of Naju."
The city plans to promote tourism activation in the Yeongsanpo area by linking the exhibition hall with tourism resources such as the rail bike, outdoor performance hall, and flower garden within the approximately 14,000-pyeong Yeongsanpo Railroad Park, as well as the nearby National Naju Cultural Heritage Research Institute.
