Seoul City Announces Contest for 'Citizen Data Scientists' to Solve Urban Issues
Utilizing City-Owned Public Data, 5 Teams Selected
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 8th that it is currently conducting the 'Seoul Data Fellowship' contest this year. The 'Fellowship' is a citizen-participation data analysis project started by the Seoul Metropolitan Government last year, which supports graduate students with city data, activity expenses, and expert advisory programs to conduct data analysis, and the results are utilized in Seoul city policies.
Any individual graduate student or team (based on the representative) interested in research projects aimed at improving Seoul city policies through data analysis can participate in the contest. The application period is until the 19th, and detailed information about the contest can be found on the Seoul Open Data Plaza.
The contest fields are divided into designated topics and free topics, selected through demand surveys from Seoul city, headquarters and business offices, and autonomous districts. All designated topics this year are related to safety. About five projects will be selected through expert panel review, and approximately 7 million KRW will be supported per selected project.
