LG Energy Solution Able Collaborates with Korea South-East Power for Jeju Offshore Wind Power Development
Jeju Power Market Pilot Project MOU
Prediction of Power Generation Linked to Offshore Wind Turbines and ESS
LG Energy Solution's in-house independent company Able is taking steps to revitalize the renewable energy industry.
On the 7th, Able signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding for Joint Participation in the Jeju Pilot Project for Power Market System Improvement' at the Tamna Offshore Wind Power headquarters located in Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju City, together with Korea South-East Power and Tamna Offshore Wind Power.
They plan to start a pilot project for renewable energy generation forecasting and management by linking offshore wind turbines with energy storage systems (ESS).
Able will operate ESS and other equipment using integrated energy power grid management technology. Korea South-East Power will share know-how related to administrative processing of forecasting systems, and Tamna Offshore Wind Power will provide wind power operation data for participation in the pilot project.
Through Able's integrated energy power grid management technology in this project, accurate forecasting and efficient management of renewable energy are expected to be possible. It is anticipated to help stabilize the domestic power supply network and expand the virtual power plant market.
Based on this agreement, Able plans to participate in the power market renewable energy bidding system. This system allows renewable energy operators with a certain capacity (exceeding 1MW of installed capacity) to participate in power market bidding on equal footing with conventional generators such as thermal and nuclear power plants.

Kim Hyuntae, CEO of Able, stated, "Due to the nature of offshore wind energy, accurate forecasting has been difficult, and there was no system to manage the energy stored in ESS. We will contribute to stabilizing the domestic power market through accurate forecasting and efficient utilization and management of offshore wind energy generation."
