Goheung-gun Selected for Jeonnam-style Companion Job Project Competition

Expected Role as Supporter for Stable Growth of Startup Companies

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 7th that it has secured 270 million KRW in project funds after being selected for the ‘2023 Jeonnam-type Companion Job Project’ contest conducted by Jeollanam-do.

The Jeonnam-type Companion Job Project is a program that autonomously discovers and promotes customized job projects suitable for the conditions of cities and counties in order to implement job creation measures optimized for the region. In this contest, 16 cities and counties in Jeonnam applied with 25 projects, and 16 projects from 12 cities and counties were finally selected.

So far, the county has been actively promoting various youth startup support projects such as the Youth Startup Challenge Project and the Youth Support Project for Business Succession. Reflecting the opinions of local youths that additional education and support are needed for early-stage startups to establish a stable foundation, the county decided to apply for the contest.

The selected project, ‘Goheung-gun Early Startup Company Level-Up Project,’ targets early-stage startups less than five years old, providing capacity-building education, business support funds, consulting, and more to enhance the companies’ self-sustainability and contribute to local job creation.

A county official stated, “We will continue to actively discover job projects suitable for the region’s population and industrial structure to create quality jobs and support the stable growth of startup companies, accelerating the establishment of a ‘100,000 population base in Goheung after 10 years.’”
