Pohang City is dedicated to enhancing citizen convenience by handling some automobile registration tasks through an online portal.
To inform citizens who are unaware of the online portal, the city has produced informational leaflets and banners, and is conducting promotional activities through 12 channels including the Vehicle Registration Civil Service Office, Automobile Inspection Office, car dealerships, and the recycling industry.
'Automobile 365' is an online service operated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport since 2017, providing comprehensive information throughout the automobile lifecycle. With a personal digital certificate, users can process automobile registration-related civil affairs via PC or mobile devices.
Applications can be made through Automobile 365 - Automobile Civil Service National Portal (go) - Civil Application - Registration Civil Affairs.
For privately owned vehicles, services such as automobile registration (transfer, change, cancellation, etc.), reissuance of vehicle registration certificates, issuance of registration records, and issuance of cancellation certificates are available. Additionally, key services including various information (new car purchase, operation, used car sales, scrapping, etc.), used car market prices, flood damage information, and integrated history inquiries are also provided.
However, changes to corporate-owned vehicle names or addresses can be applied for on the Corporate Support Plus website, and applications for jointly owned vehicles, inheritance transfers, or number change transfers must be made in person at the Vehicle Registration Division.
Over the past three years, the number of registered vehicles in Pohang City has shown a gradual increase, with 271,960 vehicles in 2020, 277,278 in 2021, and 278,697 in 2022, an increase of 6,737 vehicles (2.5%).

Cheon Mok-won, head of the Vehicle Registration Division, stated, “Through 'Automobile 365,' citizens can register their vehicles online without visiting the Vehicle Registration Division in person, which is expected to provide time and economic convenience. We will strive to promote the service so that many people can use it.”
