On the 6th, Busan City held the launch ceremony of the ‘Global Busan Tourism Environment Inspection Team’ at Busan Station Plaza and will operate the ‘Tourism Environment Intensive Inspection Week’ from March 6 to 10.
This event was prepared to further advance Busan, whose international recognition has increased through the International Tourism City Development Project and the 2030 Expo hosting campaign, as an international tourism city, and to carefully examine Busan’s tourism conditions from the perspective of tourists visiting Busan as domestic and international tourism fully resumes.
About 120 representatives from various organizations and groups that have protected Busan’s tourism industry during the long stagnation period, including Busan City, Busan Tourism Organization, Busan Tourism Association, cultural tourism interpreters, tourist guides, and tourism department students, will inspect the tourism environment at major tourist sites, planned Expo inspection sites, and transportation gateways.
The inspection team will focus on the ‘service’ sector, including foreign language services, provision of linked transportation information, and identification of on-site tourist inconveniences, as well as the ‘facility’ sector, including safety and cleanliness of tourism facilities, installation of foreign language explanatory signs, status of information centers and convenience facilities, and wheelchair accessibility.
In particular, during the joint inspection on the 6th, appointment letters will be awarded to the inspection team representatives, and a performance commemorating the resumption of tourism and praying for the Expo hosting will be held.
Afterwards, the inspection team will be divided into 11 teams to inspect 11 locations including Busan Station, Gwangalli, Bujeon Station, UN Memorial Park, and Yongdusan Park. During the Tourism Environment Intensive Inspection Week (March 7 to 10), they will inspect 11 major tourist sites and transportation gateways such as Eulsukdo Ecological Park, Busan Cinema Center, Gimhae Airport, and the Busan Central Bus Terminal.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “Busan, an international tourism city that has overcome a long stagnation due to COVID-19, is now rising for a greater leap forward,” adding, “Through the construction of Gadeok New Airport, hosting the 2030 World Expo Busan, and redevelopment of the North Port, we will create a city that is good for anyone, domestic or foreign, to visit, work, and live in.”
