Seoul City Provides Free IT Education to 4,800 People with Disabilities
Operation for 9 Months from This Month to November
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 6th that it will promote the '2023 Group Informatization Education Project for Persons with Disabilities' to bridge the digital divide for people with disabilities.
This education program will be conducted over approximately nine months from March to November, targeting 4,800 persons with disabilities residing in Seoul. To this end, 15 institutions, including regional comprehensive welfare centers with qualified and capable instructors and educational equipment, were selected as educational institutions through a public contest.
As a result of implementing informatization education for persons with disabilities so far, a total of about 47,000 graduates have been produced over the past five years, with around 200 people employed, significantly contributing to the improvement of information skills, economic activities, and social advancement of persons with disabilities.
Meanwhile, considering that education has sometimes been interrupted due to group restriction orders, plans are underway to explore measures such as strengthening online education courses to ensure uninterrupted education in the future.
