[Breaking] Steven Lee, Former Lone Star Korea CEO, Arrested in the US... 17 Years After Extradition Request
The Ministry of Justice announced on the 5th that Steven Lee (54), former CEO of Lone Star Korea and a key suspect in the Lone Star case, was arrested in New Jersey, USA, on the 2nd (local US time) as a result of close cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea and US authorities. This comes 17 years after the Ministry of Justice requested extradition from the US in 2006.
Previously, after requesting Steven Lee's extradition in August 2006, the Ministry of Justice conducted legal reviews and consultations with US authorities, but the process was prolonged.
However, after the new leadership of the Ministry of Justice was formed last year, a full review of the Lone Star case began. In mid-February, the Deputy Minister of Justice attended the 'Asia-Pacific Regional Criminal Justice Forum' held in Japan and held a bilateral meeting with a senior delegation from the US Department of Justice, requesting the swift progress of Steven Lee's extradition procedure.
