Jeonnam Jangseong-gun Expands Support of Apple Snails for Rice Paddy Farmers
Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do is accepting applications for support of rice paddy farmers using apple snails until the 10th.
The county plans to support farms applying the apple snail farming method to promote business normalization and environmental protection.
Releasing apple snails into rice paddies effectively controls weeds by eating the weeds growing on the bottom. This not only preserves the environment but also greatly helps reduce labor and production costs.
However, if apple snails remain in the paddy after applying the farming method, they may damage young rice seedlings by nibbling on them. After weeding, it is essential to collect all apple snails, and it is recommended to cultivate winter crops or perform deep plowing of the paddy after the harvest season.
Additionally, 100% of the purchase cost is supported for eco-friendly rice, and up to 90% for general rice. These amounts have been increased by 10% compared to last year.
Farmers wishing to receive support should submit the project application form and agricultural management registration certificate along with other required documents to the Industrial Team at the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Center by the 10th.
