Seoul City Provides 5 Million Won Support to Travel Agencies Attracting Foreign Tourists
Total of Approximately 700 Million Won for 130 Small Businesses
On the 5th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will provide employment subsidies to inbound travel agencies (foreigners traveling domestically) in preparation for the resumption of international tourism following the COVID-19 endemic.
Seoul will invest a total budget of about 700 million KRW to support up to 130 small comprehensive travel agencies located in Seoul. To apply for the subsidy, travel agencies must have attracted at least 100 foreign tourists this year.
Meanwhile, Seoul is preparing various supports along with the employment subsidies through this project. First, it will support travel agencies' participation in fam tours of new tourism resources and policy sites in Seoul so that they can develop tourism products reflecting the latest trends. Additionally, it plans to provide information on the latest trends in the tourism industry and various support policies to help travel agencies obtain the necessary information.

Kim Young-hwan, Director of the Seoul Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “There was a significant outflow of personnel from the travel industry during the COVID-19 pandemic,” adding, “We hope this project will reactivate employment in Seoul’s travel industry and serve as an opportunity for the industry to regain vitality through actual tourist attraction.”
