Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, Finalizes Name for Eagle Character
"My Name Is Kkosuri! Mongsuri!"
The Goseong eagle character of Goseong County, Gyeongnam, has finally been given names.
The eagle characters, created last year through a local specialized content development project, are named ‘Kkosuri’ (female baby eagle) and ‘Mongsuri’ (male baby eagle).
Out of 772 submissions received through a naming contest, the names were selected after a rigorous competition based on popularity, communicability, and originality, followed by preference surveys among residents and public officials.
The county created the eagle characters to promote eco-tourism utilizing Goseong’s natural resource, the eagle, and chose cute and easy-to-remember names to appeal warmly to the public.
Besides the final selected names, there are four other award-winning entries, which can be viewed in the announcement section of the county’s official website.
