PGA Tour to Host 8 No-Cut Tournaments Starting Next Year
70~80 Participants Competing, Rankings Determined Without 'Cut Off'
The PGA Tour in the United States will hold tournaments without a 'cut off' starting next year.
American media outlets such as ESPN reported on the 2nd (Korean time) that "there will be eight tournaments played over 72 holes with only 70 to 80 players participating and no 'cut off'." Eligibility for players in these 72-hole no-cut tournaments will be limited to top-tier players, including those ranked in the top 50 of the previous year's FedEx Cup standings, the top 30 in the world rankings, the top 10 in the FedEx Cup rankings around the time of the tournament, and winners of tour events.
The PGA Tour will hold 72-hole tournaments without a 'cut off' starting next year.

The PGA Tour has introduced various measures to counter LIV Golf. To ensure that top-tier players receive more prize money, 17 premium tournaments, including major championships, have been designated with a minimum total purse of $20 million. This move aims to prevent players from being lured away by LIV Golf, which offers huge prize money. If no-cut tournaments are introduced, the appeal for top players to switch to LIV Golf is expected to significantly decrease.
PGA Tour players welcomed this move. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board, said, "I like the new tournament format. Anyone who qualifies can participate in no-cut tournaments," adding, "If you perform well in two or three events, you can compete in these tournaments. It will increase the competitiveness of the PGA Tour."
