Jeongeup-si Supports Conversion of Children's School Vehicles to LPG Cars
Jeongeup-si, Jeonbuk Province, will provide 7 million KRW per vehicle when purchasing new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vehicles for children's school transportation.
The city announced on the 28th that it will promote the 'Support Project for Converting Children's School Vehicles to LPG Vehicles' to improve air quality by reducing vehicle emissions and to protect children's health.
This project supports owners of registered children's school buses who scrap diesel vehicles and purchase new medium-sized passenger cars or vans (with 9 to 15 seats) powered by LPG, providing 7 million KRW per vehicle.
The support quota for this year is five vehicles.
As a special provision, subsidies can be applied for when purchasing new LPG children's school vehicles by December 31, 2023, regardless of whether the old vehicle is scrapped.
However, those who have received support for installing particulate matter reduction devices and have not yet completed the mandatory operation period (2 years), or have outstanding local taxes, are excluded from eligibility.
Applicants can apply from the 6th to the 10th of next month through the comprehensive vehicle emission computer system, or by visiting the city's Resource Circulation Division or sending a registered mail.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Climate Change Team of the Resource Circulation Division in Jeongeup-si.
A city official said, "Reducing emissions by converting children's school vehicles to LPG fuel will be an opportunity to practice carbon neutrality in daily life," and added, "We hope for active interest and applications from eligible recipients such as daycare centers and academies."
