Jindo-gun, Saturday Folk Travel Opens on the 4th of Next Month... 27th Year This Year
Various Performances Scheduled Including Namdo Japga and Ganggangsullae
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, will begin the 27th annual “Jindo Saturday Folk Travel” regular performances starting from the 4th of next month.
According to the county on the 28th, the opening performance under the theme “Saenarae” will be held at the Jindo Local Culture Center Grand Theater from 2 PM on the 4th of next month.
The regular performance of the 'Jindo Toyo Folk Travel' will open with the theme 'Saenarae' starting from the 4th of next month.

The opening performance will showcase a variety of programs including Ganggangsullae, designated as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and National Intangible Cultural Property No. 8; Namdo Japga, Intangible Cultural Property No. 34; Jindo Buknori, Intangible Cultural Property No. 18; Geomungo Sanjo; Salpuri; Sabangnori; and Utdari Pungmul Gut.
In particular, invited performances will be held featuring Kim Jongsim and Park Jongsuk (holders of the Ganggangsullae artistic skill), along with the Ganggangsullae Preservation Society, and Kang Songdae (holder of the Namdo Japga artistic skill) with the Namdo Japga Preservation Society.
The Jindo Saturday Folk Travel regular performances began in 1997 and have been held every Saturday at 2 PM for 27 years, totaling 957 performances to date, providing rich spectacles and various experiences to over 380,000 domestic and international tourists.
A representative from the Jindo-gun Culture, Arts and Sports Division stated, “The Jindo Saturday Folk Travel regular performances play a significant role as ambassadors promoting Jindo-gun, the only folk culture and arts special zone in South Korea,” adding, “We plan to continue offering abundant spectacles and diverse experiences to many domestic and international tourists visiting Jindo.”
