An Octogenarian Woman Attempts Self-Immolation... "Second to Third Degree Burns on Entire Body"
An elderly person in their 80s living alone attempted self-immolation, suffering severe burns and was transported to a hospital.
The Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 28th that an 80-year-old woman, Ms. A, attempted self-immolation at around 2:30 a.m. at an officetel in Mapo-gu, Seoul, resulting in severe burns and was taken to a hospital.
Ms. A reportedly poured a flammable substance on herself inside her home to attempt self-immolation, but the sprinkler system activated and extinguished the fire. She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital with second- and third-degree burns over her entire body and is unconscious.
A police official stated, "We plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident."
