Police Chief Expresses Regret Over Jeong Soon-shin's Fall from Favor as Recommender
Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, said on the 27th that he feels "regretful as the recommender" regarding the series of events in which lawyer Jeong Soon-shin was appointed as the 2nd Chief of the National Investigation Headquarters but stepped down after just one day.
On the same day, Commissioner Yoon spoke to reporters in the lobby of the National Police Agency in Migeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, expressing his stance on lawyer Jeong's voluntary resignation following the controversy over his son's history of school violence.
When asked about the direction for selecting the next Chief of the National Investigation Headquarters, Commissioner Yoon left open both the possibilities of re-announcing the recruitment and internal selection, stating, "We will proceed as quickly as possible to ensure there is no gap in leadership."
