Korea-US-Japan-Taiwan 'Chip 4' Operation Begins in Earnest... Discussions on Semiconductor Supply Chain Recovery Measures

South Korea, the United States, Japan, and Taiwan reportedly held the plenary meeting of the four-party semiconductor supply chain resilience task force, known as 'Chip 4 (Fab 4),' last week.
A Foreign Ministry official stated on the 24th, "The United States, under the auspices of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), hosted a virtual meeting of the U.S.-East Asia Semiconductor Supply Chain Resilience Task Force on the 16th to discuss measures to strengthen the semiconductor industry supply chain."
According to the Foreign Ministry, an official from the Korean Mission in Taipei attended as the chief representative, while the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy observed at the director-general level.

The four parties?South Korea, the U.S., Japan, and Taiwan?held the first preparatory meeting of the task force last September. With the holding of this plenary meeting, the task force appears to have officially commenced operations.
