This selection was based on the Trust Management Index survey, an international standard model organized by GPTW Korea and supervised by GPTW. Daewoong Pharmaceutical has been listed for four consecutive years, starting with its selection as one of the Top 10 Best Companies to Work for in Asia in 2020.
Daewoong Pharmaceutical explained that it has overcome the traditional and conservative culture typical of pharmaceutical companies by fostering a work culture where employees can autonomously choose their working hours, locations, and methods. The company implements flexible work systems such as smart offices and telecommuting, allowing employees to focus on their tasks according to their circumstances. Additionally, it has cultivated a culture that encourages employee rest through initiatives like a campaign not to ask for reasons for taking leave and a paid long-term refresh leave system of up to one month for employees with five years of service. The company also operates an in-house daycare center called Little Bear Daycare and received family-friendly company certification from the government in 2008.
The company stated that Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s corporate philosophy and HR system have been well received by millennials who seek growth and fairness. In the recent GPTW survey, about 70% of employees aged 19 to 34 responded affirmatively to the question, “Is Daewoong Pharmaceutical a good company for millennials to work for?” Most employees also answered that the company’s ‘monthly evaluation feedback’ system helps improve actual work and supports autonomous growth. Under these systems, the categories of respect, fairness, and pride among the five major survey categories?trust, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie?each recorded a positive response rate of 75%.
Furthermore, Lee Chang-jae, CEO of Daewoong Pharmaceutical, was selected as the ‘Most Respected CEO in Korea.’ Since his appointment in January 2021, CEO Lee has hosted a monthly ‘Happiness Festival’ to communicate directly with employees and gather opinions from various departments. Park Eun-kyung, Head of ETC (Ethical Drugs) Marketing Division, was also selected as a ‘GPTW Innovation Leader.’
