[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG Electronics has joined forces with labor and management to help residents in the T?rkiye region affected by the earthquake.
On the 24th, LG Electronics announced that it has installed more than 120 washing machines and dryers at eight temporary shelters for earthquake victims in central-southern Mersin and southeastern Tarsus, T?rkiye, and is operating free laundry facilities so that the victims can wash their clothes. LG Electronics service engineers will be stationed at the free laundry facilities to provide necessary support.

From the end of this month, LG Electronics will also operate mobile service centers targeting five cities severely affected by the disaster. The mobile service vehicles will circulate daily among the five cities, collecting broken home appliances to nearby service centers for repair and then delivering them back to the customers. On the mobile service vehicles, a message reading "Bu zor g?nleri birlikte a?aca?ız (We will overcome these difficult days together)" will be displayed to share the pain of the victims.
The LG Electronics Labor Union is also supporting the reconstruction of essential facilities such as schools in the affected areas by utilizing the USR (Union Social Responsibility) fund, which was created through voluntary donations from union members. USR signifies responsibility across economic, social, and environmental aspects as a member of society, based on transparent and ethical union activities that enhance the rights and interests of union members.
Donations from LG Electronics employees are also ongoing. Executives are contributing through the "Executive Social Contribution Fund," while employees, led by the Junior Board?a voluntary representative body of office workers?are delivering essential daily necessities such as blankets, sleeping bags, clothing, cleaning supplies, masks, diapers, as well as relief items like generators and flashlights, prioritizing the needs of the victims.
