Incentives are provided differentially for individual and group tourists and MICE based on 1-night or 2-night stays, and school trips receive 10,000 KRW per person.
Accommodation support is provided for up to 2 nights only, and if the total expenditure within the city does not exceed 1.5 times the incentive application amount, only half of the support amount is paid.
Additionally, when local travel agencies attract tourists or visitors who come to nearby large-scale exhibitions are attracted as tourists, an additional 3,000 KRW per person is provided, and for attracting foreign tourists, an additional 2,000 KRW per person is given.
To receive the support funds, travel agencies must submit a prior plan and travel itinerary by one day before the start of the trip, undergo prior consultation, and submit the support application and visit-related documents within 30 days from the end of the trip.
The period of the 22nd Gwangyang Maehwa Festival (March 10 to March 19) is excluded, and for other detailed information, please refer to the announcement section on the Gwangyang City Hall website.
Jung Gu-young, Director of Tourism, said, “This year’s tourist attraction incentives have been meticulously prepared to actively reflect the rapidly changing travel trends and to absorb travelers visiting large-scale exhibitions in neighboring local governments.”
He added, “We expect that many attractive Gwangyang travel products that can satisfy the rapidly reviving travel sentiment will be discovered, leading to active tourist attraction. We hope that the incentives will revitalize the travel industry, which has been struggling for a long time, and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy.”
