National Police Agency Workshop for 'Leading Future Policing Implementation'

View original imageOn the 23rd, the National Police Agency announced that it held a workshop for about 200 senior officers working in future policing policy functions at provincial police agencies nationwide to achieve "leading future policing." At the workshop, participants shared the work direction and founding purpose of the Future Policing Policy Bureau, as well as the key contents of the "Police Future Vision 2050" announced last year. Experts in scientific policing from the Science Policing Promotion Center and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute also attended to discuss ways to integrate science and technology into overall police work.
Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, stated, "Leading future policing is not vague but proactively preparing for imminent future risks," and added, "We will do our best to strengthen policing capabilities based on scientific policing, which is a national agenda." A National Police Agency official said, "We will strive to establish a virtuous cycle structure in the policing industry through the establishment of the Future Policing Policy Bureau and this workshop."

Earlier, in September last year, the National Police Agency announced the "Police Future Vision 2050" to proactively and scientifically prepare for new types of crimes arising from social structural changes such as low birth rates and advances in science and technology. In December of the same year, the existing Informatization Equipment Policy Division (at the rank of Senior Superintendent General) was expanded and reorganized into the Future Policing Policy Bureau (at the rank of Police Commissioner) to oversee the implementation of Police Future Vision 2050.
