Furthermore, this year, issues such as the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant are expected to make it an even more difficult time for the fisheries sector.
This event, held in the Year of the Black Rabbit 2023, brought together leaders from fisheries-related institutions, organizations, and companies to discuss joint responses to overcome the crisis in the fisheries industry and explore future development plans.
About 70 participants attended the event, including Lee Seong-gwon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, heads of fisheries-related institutions and organizations, and industry representatives, engaging in candid discussions and exchanging opinions on various topics related to the fisheries sector.
At the event, Ryu Cheongro, CEO of the Fisheries Policy Forum, stated, “There are many pressing issues facing Busan’s fisheries industry this year, and we will do our best to strengthen the organic cooperation system among industry, academia, research, and government to make this a year in which the fisheries industry can take another leap forward.”
