Gokseong-gun had previously announced plans to establish the Hometown Love Donation Hall targeting high-value donors who contribute 3 million won or more.

This was a measure to activate the Hometown Love Donation System. Then, on February 7, Kim Geonhun became the first high-value donor by donating the maximum amount of 5 million won, reserving his place in the hall.
In particular, he earned admiration by requesting that the regional gift certificates worth about 1.5 million won, which he received as a return gift, be donated to the Gokseong Future Education Foundation.
Since then, interest and participation in the Hometown Love Donation have increased, and donations to Gokseong-gun continue.
According to Gokseong-gun, the number of donors enshrined in the Donation Hall has now increased to five.
Also, as small donations have increased, the average daily number of donations rose significantly from 3 to 3.87 when comparing before and after February 7.
The average donation amount per person also surged dramatically from 116,500 won to 504,700 won.
It is also noteworthy that the first donor to the Hometown Love Donation Hall, Kim Geonhun, is not originally from Gokseong.
At the ceremony, Kim Geonhun said, “Gokseong is not where I was born, but it is a place I love.
Although I cannot disclose details due to personal reasons, the connections and memories I made with Gokseong in my youth are beautifully ingrained in my life.
Although I now live in another region, I have always cherished feelings of longing and gratitude in my heart, and this opportunity allowed me to express those feelings.”
Gokseong-gun plans to use the Hometown Love donation funds as resources necessary for promoting local projects such as revitalizing regional education and resident welfare.
Meanwhile, the Hometown Love Donation System is a program where donors who contribute to regions other than their registered address can receive tax deductions and return gifts worth up to 30% of the donation amount.
Donations up to 100,000 won are fully tax-deductible, so the full amount of 100,000 won can be refunded during year-end tax settlement.
Additionally, since return gifts worth up to 30,000 won are received, it has attracted great interest among young people as a “smart finance technique to earn 30,000 won in 5 minutes.”
