Laundry Volunteer Service Twice a Week for Elderly with Mobility Difficulties in Rural Areas
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Haenam-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 22nd that it held a handover ceremony for a mobile laundry vehicle that will do laundry on behalf of elderly residents in rural fishing villages.

The mobile laundry vehicle was selected and produced through the 2021 Jeonnam Fruit of Love vehicle distribution project contest.
Out of the total project cost of 166 million KRW, individual and group sponsors donated 67 million KRW, and the Community Chest provided 99 million KRW in support.
The vehicle is a 2.5-ton truck equipped with four washing machines, and volunteer organizations will visit villages twice a week to provide laundry services for vulnerable groups and elderly residents with mobility difficulties in the area.
It is also planned to be used in various ways, including for disaster site recovery in the event of disasters and accidents.
The handover ceremony was held in front of Suseongsong at the Gunmin Square, attended by County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan, Haenam County Council Chairman Kim Seok-sun, and Jeonnam Community Chest Secretary-General Kim Dong-geuk, among others, to celebrate the occasion.

Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan stated, “The operation of the mobile laundry vehicle is expected to be a great help to elderly residents with mobility difficulties in rural fishing villages who are in urgent need of laundry services,” adding, “We will do our best to create a warm Haenam where everyone is happy without welfare blind spots.”
