"Strengthening SW Competitiveness" FortyTwo appoints Samsung veteran developer as Vice President
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] 42dot announced on the 22nd that it has appointed Jinhee Choi, the lead of the technology group, as the new Vice President. The company is expected to play a key role at the global software center established by Hyundai Motor Group. In the rapidly changing mobility market, the company appointed a leader of the development organization as Vice President to devise a competitive software strategy and initiate the transition to a software-defined vehicle (SDV) company.
Vice President Choi has gained experience in various IT fields including software architecture and platforms, operating systems (OS), computer networks, autonomous driving robotics, and cloud robotics platforms. The company refers to her as a ‘full-stack engineer’ proficient in all areas of software development. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Korea University and joined the company in 2021 after serving as a senior engineer at Samsung Electronics.
42dot develops and services software related to autonomous driving and shared vehicles, and was founded by CEO Changhyun Song, who previously worked at Apple, Microsoft, and Naver. CEO Song described Vice President Choi as "an engineer with core development capabilities ranging from operating systems to semiconductor design, who still thoroughly conducts code reviews," and said she "best embodies 42dot’s talent ideal of being a ‘team player who collaborates for product success.’" He added, "I ask her to accelerate growth through technological advancement and lead the organization in line with the company’s software strategy."

CEO Song’s assumption of various important roles within Hyundai Motor Group is interpreted as a personnel move to expedite decision-making at 42dot, which is a developer-centric organization. Vice President Choi also took on the role of Chief of Organizational Culture. She said, "I understand this as a request to increase trust in the company’s business and its members and to build global competitiveness in the fiercely competitive mobility market," adding, "I will provide direction so that everything employees do aligns with our goals and will achieve technological innovation."
