Three Candlelight Protest Participants Arrested on Charges of Assaulting Police
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Officials related to the Candlelight Victory Transition Action (Chotbul Haengdong), who are accused of obstructing official duties by assaulting police officers during a scuffle, have been arrested.
On the 22nd, Seoul Namdaemun Police Station announced that they had arrested and were investigating three individuals related to Chotbul Haengdong on charges of obstructing official duties the previous day.
At around 3:15 PM the previous day, they are suspected of obstructing police officers' official duties while installing additional tents at an unauthorized hunger strike site near the Booyoung Building in Jung-gu, Seoul. They are reported to have assaulted police officers by pushing their chests.
Additionally, they are accused of blocking the police's attempt to tow a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone. The vehicle was loaded with tents and other items.
